Exhibit that features some of the Island’s best photography runs from June 18 to 26.

After a two-year hiatus, the Nanaimo Harbour City Photography Club’s annual photo salon is once again on display at Vancouver Island University’s (VIU’s) View Gallery. The exhibit, Photo Salon 2022, features some of the Island’s best photography.

Early in the spring, photographers were invited to submit digital images to the exhibition which, in turn, were evaluated by three judges: Rick Hulbert of Vancouver, Rick Shapka of Victoria and Lynda Miller of Kelowna. That panel narrowed the field from 165 images to 100 of the best in four categories: landscape, wildlife-nature, artistic-digital art and open. These images, once printed, will be hung in the View Gallery for final judging: by Rick Leche of Black Creek, Lorna Zaback of Victoria and Ellen McCluskey of Nanaimo. First, second and third place awards will be given in those categories. Another exhibit, Environmental Photojournalism, will also be on display.

Many thanks to the sponsors for their generous support. More than $2,000 in prizes have been donated.
