VIU partners with Digital Marketing Institute to offer new certification

Students in VIU’s Master of Business Administration program are honing their skills in the digital marketing realm.

More than 100 MBA students have earned their Digital Marketing Associate Certification this year. This is the first class to receive this credential, which is thanks to a partnership with the Digital Marketing Institute.

Embedding this certification in the MBA curriculum is a chance for aspiring digital marketers to enhance their expertise and understanding of t he field.

Being one of the first groups of students to go through the restructured Master of Business Administration program was a highlight of Prabhdeep Singh Sambi’s VIU experience. Another highlight was creating meaningful networking opportunities that brought together his peers and local businesses.

“I was constantly involved and expressive about my views, and I was able to fully showcase myself in the process,” he adds.

Alum of the Month: Sandipan Debnath

Completing school and job hunting during a global pandemic didn’t slow Sandipan Debnath (Master of Business Administration ’21) down one bit. He’s now a Business Development Representative at Wrapbook, a US-based tech startup that is digitizing the entertainment payroll industry. Originally from Bangladesh, Debnath is now based out of Toronto at his current position. He shares more about his career path and how VIU’s MBA program prepared him for work in a global company.

Alum of the Month: Dennis Año

Doing his master’s degree at VIU while working up to 30 hours a week as a Community Health Nurse was one of the biggest challenges Dennis Año (Master of Business Administration/Master of Science in International Management ’15) has ever taken on. After graduating, Año worked as Nurse Manager for the Island Community Mental Health Association and then as Director of Wellness for Amica at Douglas House – a position that combines the Human Resources management, strategic financing, budgeting and marketing skills he learned in VIU’s MBA program with his nursing background.
