Immerse yourself in the enchanting story of Ebenezer Scrooge from A Christmas Carol as it comes to life at Vancouver Island University’s (VIU’s) Malaspina Theatre.

“Don’t miss this magical experience that will leave you with a warm glow and a renewed appreciation for the true meaning of Christmas,” said Robin Boxwell, VIU Theatre department Technical Director and Instructor.

This unique adaption of the classic tale was written by local author Jim Mayher and is presented as a live radio play. Actors will perform the beloved characters’ voices accompanied by live sound effects.

Attendees can enjoy free cookies and refreshments. The Theatre department is also collecting donations for the Nanaimo Loaves & Fishes Community Food Bank. Any contributions are welcome.

“We are excited to continue the tradition of collaborating with local artists and student voices in a way that lets us give back to our community,” said Boxwell.

The show begins at 7 pm and doors open at 6:30 pm. Tickets are free and available from Eventbrite.

The performance is a live recording session for the Malaspina Theatre podcast, which will be available for listeners at a later date.
