Virtual Graduation Celebration 2020

Virtual event to take place on September 30, 2020

First of all, I wanted to say a heartfelt congratulations to all of our Spring 2020 graduates. Graduating from university is an important milestone that deserves to be celebrated, honoured and reflected upon. This year it is especially important, as you have achieved this during a time of great upheaval and uncertainty.

We announced in April that our face-to-face convocation ceremonies would not proceed as planned in June, and we know many of you have been wondering what we are planning in place of those events. While we were initially hoping to have a face-to-face event in the fall, it has become clear that that won't be possible.

Today, I’m happy to announce a date for a virtual Graduation Celebration

It will be an interactive experience that includes some elements of the traditional convocation ceremonies – with some fun new twists.

Please save this date in your calendars and ask your friends and family to do the same! We invite you to join the Graduation Celebration event page and watch the Convocation webpage for more details over the next month as well.

I know this event does not replace an in-person gathering, and so you will be invited to attend one of our formal convocation ceremonies once we are able to host them again. What I can promise about our virtual event is that it will be meaningful, celebratory and a fun way to mark this important milestone.

I look forward to celebrating with you all on September 30!

Sincerely,

Deb Saucier, PhD
President and Vice-Chancellor
